rating guide

  • ★★★★★ // 5 stars —— A five-star read is few and far between, but when they come along they really are perfection (or as close to it as we can get in this world). If I could have these books on repeat in my brain I would not be mad.

  • ★★★★ ½ // 4.5 stars —— Many of the best reads I usually give a 4.5 for just for the sake of reserving the five stars for the best of the best.

  • ★★★★☆ // 4 stars —— Well and truly amazing, but just not quite there.

  • ★★★ ½ ☆ // 3.5 stars —— Better than decent, but just not four.

  • ★★★☆☆ // 3 stars —— Really, really average.

  • ★★ ½ ☆☆ // 2.5 stars —— Most likely a super boring book, but it just didn't suck enough to be two stars.

  • ★★☆☆☆ // 2 stars —— Two stars are deserved for the pretty dreadful ones that I just couldn't wait to finish.

  • ★ ½ ☆☆☆ // 1.5 stars —— Probably because I felt bad giving it one so the 0.5 is supposed to be me being nice.

  • ★☆☆☆☆ // 1 star —— Bad.

  • ½ ☆☆☆☆ // 0.5 stars —— Books I know suck and I read for the laughs or to literally roast to hell and back.
